Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

Bush Capital Paediatrics ("we", "us", "our") of Suite 5 Calvary Clinic, 40 Mary Potter Circuit, Bruce ACT 2617, is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information, including health information, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and the Health Records (Privacy and Access) Act 1997 (ACT).

What we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect: names and contact details of parents, carers and patients; date of birth; Medicare and health fund details; GP referrals and referral details; health information about your child, including medical history, test results, reports and correspondence from other health providers; school reports and questionnaires where relevant to your child's care; and information you submit through our website contact form (name, email, phone and your message).

How we collect it

We collect information directly from you, from your child's GP or other referring practitioners, from other treating health providers, and through our website when you contact us. We only collect health information with consent, or where otherwise permitted by law.

Why we collect it

We collect and use personal information to provide specialist paediatric care to your child; to communicate with you, your GP and other treating providers; to manage appointments, billing, Medicare and health fund claims; to meet our legal and professional obligations; and to respond to enquiries submitted through this website.

Disclosure

We may disclose relevant information to your child's GP and other health providers involved in their care, to Medicare, health funds and government agencies where required for billing or by law, and to third-party service providers who support the operation of the practice (such as secure IT, practice management and messaging systems) under appropriate confidentiality obligations. We do not sell personal information. We will not disclose your child's health information to anyone else without your consent, unless required or authorised by law (for example, mandatory reporting obligations or a serious threat to life, health or safety).

Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Records are held in secure electronic practice systems with access limited to authorised staff. We retain health records for the periods required by law for paediatric records, which generally extend until a patient turns 25.

Website, cookies and analytics

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality and anonymous usage statistics. This information does not identify you personally. Our contact form is intended for general enquiries only; please do not submit confidential or urgent medical information through the website.

Access and correction

You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you or your child, subject to the exceptions in the Privacy Act and ACT health records legislation. Requests can be made using the details on our Contact page. We may need to verify your identity and, in some cases, parental responsibility before releasing records.

Complaints

If you have concerns about how we have handled personal information, please contact the practice first so we can try to resolve the matter. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992, or to the ACT Human Rights Commission in relation to ACT health records.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page.
